Therapeutic Optometrist

​A therapeutic optometrist is a primary eye care provider who is licensed to diagnose, treat, and manage:  diseases, injuries and disorders of the visual system and it's ocular structures.  A therapeutically licensed optometrist can prescribe certain medications and spectacle lenses, provide low vision rehabilitation and vision therapy,  and fit specialty contact lenses.

 

Dr. Patel is a graduate of California State University Sacramento where she earned her bachelors degree in Biological Sciences.  She pursued her Doctor of Optometry here at University of Houston.  Prior to establishing her practice, Dr. Patel participated in two mission trips to Honduras to provide eye care to indigent areas.  She is a member of the Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society for her work in college and in the community.  Dr. Patel is very passionate about eye health and has been servicing the eyecare needs for Friendswood and adjacent communities since 2004. 

When away from the office she stays busy being a soccer, basketball, and dance mom.  Her hobbies include spending family time with her three children and husband, along with traveling, reading, and cooking.
